In addition to PM Service, DOT annual inspections can also be done at our location.
Quarterly Truck Preventative Maintenance consists of:
- Cabin inspection
- Check all indicator lights and gauges
- Check and record oil pressure at idle. PSI:
- Check and record oil pressure at max RPM. PSI:
- Check and record RPM at idle.
- Check and record max RPM.
- Check operation of low air buzzer/indicator light
- Check heater operation
- Check A/C Operation
- Check fan blower motor operation
- Check PTO Operator and indicator light
- Check electric horn
- Check air horn
- Check windshield wiper control and operation
- Check all windows tor damage
- Check window operations
- Check hand brake valve operation
- Check brake valve for leaks
- Check air seat operation and check air seat for leaks
- Check brake / clutch pedal and pads
- Check fire extinguisher
- Verify emergency triangles in cab
- Check seat belts and safety equipment
- Check for any air leaks inside cab
- Exterior Inspection
- Check and record DOT Inspection date.
- Check and replace wiper blades if needed
- Check headlights (Low, High)
- Check all marker lights
- Check turn signals
- Check tail lights
- Check stop lights
- Check reverse lights
- Check reverse alarm
- Check for missing reflectors and reflecting DOT tape
- Check mud flaps
- Check frame for missing parts or cracks
- Check body U-bolts
- Check and record body damage
- Check, clean and tighten battery terminals
- Check and fill battery acid
- Check cone holder and verify that it contains four (4) cones
- Check fifth wheel; inspect mounting latch mechanism and all bolts
- Check and record tire depth, damage, irregular wear, defective valves. Fill tires if needed.
- Under the hood inspection
- Change engine oil.
- Change all filters
- Check for engine oil leaks
- Change all fuel filters
- Change all water filters
- Change all air filters
- Change all power steering fluid filters
- Check power steering fluid level and top-off.
- Check steering box and pump for leaks, free play and U-joint condition
- Check and adjust all belts
- Check all hoses
- Check anti-freeze level and fill.
- Check windshield washer fluid and fill.
- Check windshield wiper blades, replace if necessary
- Check brake fluid level and top-off.
- Check engine motor mounts
- Check radiator supports and mounts
- Check hood hinges and locks
- Check fan blades for cracks or missing blades
- Check exhaust system for leaks and broken brackets
- Check king pins and bushings
- Check shock absorbers
- Under the truck inspection
- Check front and rear wheel seals for leaks
- Check and adjust all brakes. Check percentage of brake lining left
- Check and adjust clutch and clutch brake, record clutch pedal play, verify that it remains within 3″ to 4″.
- Grease chassis, fill auto-greaser and record.
- Check all U-joints, drive shafts, carrier bearings and PTO shafts
- Check all springs, shackles, pins, bushings, leaves, center bolts, spring clips, U-bolts and radius rods for damaQe, wear and looseness.
- Check brake chambers for leaks while brakes are being applied
- Check and drain air tanks
- Check the condition of the walk beam bushings and torque rod bushings
- Check all hoses for leaks
- Check frame and cross members for stress cracks or missing bolts
- Check transmission mounts
- Check transmission for leaks, fill if needed.
- Check front steer axle differential for leaks and fill if needed.
- Check front differential for leaks and fill if needed.
- Check rear and tandem differential for leaks and fill if needed.
- Check transfer case for leaks and fill if needed.
- Dump truck inspection
- Check dump cylinders, pump and hoses for leaks
- Clean cylinders
- Check dump assembly for cracks and wear
- Check rear dump pins for wear
- Check and report all leaks
- Grease dump bed and rear hinges
- Change hydraulic filters
- Check and fill hydraulic fluid, record amount added
- Inspect bed and side boards for damage and wear
- Check door and tarp mechanism
