Quarterly truck preventive maintenance

A scheduled service every three months for single trucks and small fleets, with the findings written down so nothing gets lost between visits.

A PM visit is cheaper than a tow. Our quarterly service is built for work trucks: box trucks and tractors, dump trucks, crane and bucket trucks, trailers, man lifts and stick booms. Every item is checked and recorded, and anything that needs repair is quoted before we touch it.

In the cab

• Warning lights and gauges, with oil pressure recorded at idle and at governed speed
• Idle and maximum engine speed recorded
• Low air warning, horns, wipers and washers
• Heater, air conditioning and blower
• PTO controls and indicator light
• Hand brake valve and foot valve for leaks
• Seats, seat belts, air seat leaks and pedal pads
• Fire extinguisher and warning triangles

Around the truck

• Last DOT inspection date recorded, so the annual inspection is never missed
• Headlights, marker, turn, tail, stop and reverse lights, and the backup alarm
• Reflectors and conspicuity tape, mud flaps
• Frame, body mounts and body U-bolts
• Batteries cleaned, tightened and topped up
• Tires: tread depth, damage, uneven wear, valve stems and pressure
• Fifth wheel latch and mounting bolts on tractors

Under the hood

• Engine oil and filter changed
• Fuel, water, air and power steering filters changed
• Belts adjusted, hoses checked, coolant and washer fluid topped up
• Steering box and pump for leaks and free play
• Engine and radiator mounts, hood hinges and latches
• Fan blades and exhaust brackets

Under the truck

• Brakes adjusted and lining percentage recorded
• Clutch and clutch brake adjusted, pedal free play set
• Chassis greased, auto greaser filled
• U-joints, driveshafts, carrier bearings and PTO shafts
• Springs, shackles, pins, bushings, U-bolts, torque rods and walking beam bushings
• Wheel seals, brake chambers under application, air tanks drained
• Transmission, transfer case and every differential checked for leaks and topped up
• Transmission mounts, frame and crossmembers for cracks

Dump and hydraulic bodies

• Dump cylinders, pump and hoses for leaks
• Hydraulic filter changed, fluid topped up and the amount recorded
• Bed hinges and pins greased and checked for wear
• Bed, side boards, door and tarp mechanism
